Originally a singer
song-writer duo, Bridge have expanded into a 5-piece band.
"Bridge fuse
the sound of contemporary rock with a strong folk influence from both
sides of the Atlantic, stitched together by a distinctive vocal style
and thought provoking lyrics, and set against a harmonically and sonically
textured backdrop of keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars."
"Ambitious,
expansive and often quite beautiful Celtic-tinged pop at it's best....Bridge
have an arsenal of misty-eyed tunes that could melt hearts or change lives."
(Nightshift magazine)
"Bridge have
emerged…. as an amazingly good band entirely on their own terms…..the
melodic guitar is beautiful, the vocal harmonies tuneful…some bands just
have it, I guess." (OHM
review).
"Bridge sit
out on a limb from every other band on the Oxford scene...the traditional
sounds are forever cut through with the eerie spectre of gothic foreboding
or new wave edginess" (Nightshift magazine)
Bridge News (updated 17th April 2005):
Apologies
for the long silence! After the gig at the Clapham Grand, Bridge retreated
into the rehearsal studio to work on tracks for the next album. Preparations
have been slow but steady, and we're preparing to enter Dungeon recording
studios at the end of April to start laying the ground work. Watch
this space....as a little taster, right click and save as here
to download a rehearsal room recording of "Wychwood", one
of the songs intended to be on the next record.
There
has also been a personnel change within the Bridge camp, albeit a
temporary one. Ed has been finding it increasingly difficult to balance
his studio work and gigging with Narco with his Bridge commitments,
and so has decided to take a sabbatical from the band. He will however
feature on some of the album tracks. The vacant drum stool will be
filled for the recording sessions at Dungeon (and possible future
gigs) by Mark Wilden of Oxford electronic collective The Evenings.
Work
has also commenced on an EP by The Mile High Young Team, a band featuring
Colin, Adrian and Mark of Bridge, Emily Davis (occasional Bridge guest
vocalist), and Andy Braithewaite of Oxford band Number Nine, along
with other guest musicians. The 4 songs on the EP are all by Colin,
so bear more than a passing resemblence to the Bridge sound (in fact,
one was performed several times by Bridge) but the overall feel is
much folkier, featuring accordian and cello playing in places! Details
here when the recording is available.
The
Clapham Grand gig (where incidently Oasis are playing later this year!)
went very well - we managed to sell our advance ticket allocation,
got a lot of good feedback and had a great night in the process. Many
thanks to all who came.

EP
LAUNCH NIGHT: What a night! A big, big thank you to all those
who came along on Friday to see us - we had a great night, and it
sounded like most of you enjoyed yourselves too! Bridge play an encore...whatever
next! Thanks also to those who bought the EP - and for those who didn't,
we've got copies for sale here - what are
you waiting for?!
Talking of the EP, the track listing
is as follows: 1 - So Sue Me; 2 - Blood Meridian; 3 - Where Are
You Now? It was recorded at a
variety of places, including The Strongroom and 2kHz Studios in
London, and Rotator in Oxford, and mixed by Rich Aitken of Narco.

you would like to be added to the Bridge mailing list to be kept informed
of future Bridge gigs and recordings, please email bridge@psycho-monkey.co.uk
