Bridge play the Oxford Punt, Wednesday 14th May 2003

Nightshift review:
Bridge too rely more on a stand and deliver approach. Initially they're a personable if unremarkable pub rock band with a slightly folky undertone who look a little too like Big Country for comfort, but when they hit "Harvester" it all changes - the sort of song that makes your spine tingle: a sad, sweet Celtic lament that you want to carry home with you to comfort you in the dark. We'd have bought a copy too if we hadn't been herded out by the overeager door staff.
Oxford Home for Music Review:
A great five piece band that moves away from standard Oxford fare (with the possible exception of their last song this evening). Accessible tunes with a country influence and a rocky edge-but still with the melancholy roots from their two-piece days. Not many people were left standing still at Jongleurs (although there was an exodus near the end - Gunnbunny fans, perhaps?) and some even started dancing properly (nutters). I was even inspired to buy a CD! (Great hat by the way, guys).
